Required Browser Settings

To ensure Moodle functions correctly, verify the following settings are enabled:

  • Enable Cookies — Required for session management and login
  • Enable Pop-ups — Required for certain assignment types and external tools

Troubleshooting Steps

If you experience issues loading Moodle pages or submitting assignments, try these steps in order:

  1. Update your browser to the latest version
  2. Clear your browser's cache (see instructions below)
  3. Try a different browser — Have more than one browser installed
  4. Move to a different computer if the issue persists

Having Browser Issues?

Before contacting the Helpdesk:

  1. Take a screenshot of the error message (include the whole screen)
  2. Note your device type (Windows, Mac, Chromebook, etc.)
  3. List the browsers you have already tried

How to Clear Your Browser Cache

Clearing your cache deletes stored files, cookies, and browsing history. This should be done periodically to improve Moodle performance and maintain security.

Windows Browsers

Mozilla Firefox:

  1. Open the Clear All History window
  2. Set Time range to clear to Everything
  3. Select all checkboxes except Site Preferences
  4. Click Clear Now

Google Chrome:

  1. Open the Clear Browsing Data window
  2. Set time range to All time
  3. Select all checkboxes except Media licenses
  4. Click Clear data

Microsoft Edge:

  1. Go to Settings > Privacy, search, and services
  2. Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear
  3. Select: Browsing history, Cookies, Cached data, Download history, Form data, and Passwords
  4. Click Clear

Mac Browsers (Safari)

After following these steps, close and reopen your browser.

  1. Go to Safari > Preferences > Privacy
  2. Click Remove All Website Data

  1. Go to History > Clear History
  2. Choose All History from the dropdown
  3. Click Clear History
