- From the Finder menu, click Go, (if you do not see Go then skip to step 3 ).
- Click Connect to Server from Go’s drop-down menu.
- Alternatively, you can also press Command+K to launch Connect to Server.

Connect to an SMB Share
- In the Server Address field, enter smb://fileserver2
- Navigate to the department folder
- Click Connect
- When prompted, enter your NetID user name and password to connect to the server.
- Click Connect to connect to the server.
- Double-click any of the folders on the network server to mount them and add them to your desktop. To create a permanent shortcut that appears regardless of the current connection to the server, drag folders or files from the server to the desktop. This creates a shortcut on your desktop.
- Once the connection is made, the share you have access to will appear on your desktop.
