Where do I go to access YHC’s online resources?

    o    YHC Connect (https://connect.yhc.edu ) contains links to events, campus offices and resources such as Moodle, Email,                 and Self Service.


How do I connect to Wi-Fi with my phone, tablet or other personal devices?

    o    Simply connect to either YHC Wireless and type in mountain for the network password.

How do I connect to Wi-Fi with my Windows or Apple computer?

    o    Simply connect to either YHC Wireless and type in mountain for the network password.


How do I connect to Wi-Fi with my gaming device or smart TV?

    o    Simply connect to either YHC Wireless, and type in mountain for the network password. 

    o    If you are unable to use the Wi-Fi after that step, please send a message to helpdesk@yhc.edu from your YHC email                  address. The message should contain your the device make, model and type, and your residence hall and room                         number.


What antivirus software do you require or recommend?

    o    An active antivirus program is required for Windows and Apple computers to access the YHC network. Students can utilize most paid and free versions of antivirus software.

    o    Windows Defender is a free antivirus that comes preinstalled on Windows machines.


How do I change my password?

    o    Go to https://www.yhc.edu/mountain-lion-central/information-technology/yhc-password-portal/

            The Change Password button allows you to use your current password to create a new one.

            The Reset Password button allows you to reset a forgotten password.

            The Register button allows you to create your recovery information in case you ever forget your password and need                 to reset it.

    o    Passwords expire every 90 days.

How do I find out what events are taking place on campus?

    o    The YHC website has an events section on the home page for most campus events.


Do I need to use my YHC email account or can I use a different one?

    o    Yes, your YHC account is the official means of communication at YHC. Professors and YHC staff will be sending                             important email to your YHC account.


What technology services are available to students?

    o    IT will assist students with connecting a computer or device to the campus network.

    o    IT will assist with problems relating to password changes.

    o    IT will answer questions and provide guidance on virus removal and general computer problems.


What technology services are not provided?

    o    IT does not repair hardware or software problems on student computers or devices.

 

What is Moodle and how do I use it?

    o    Moodle is YHC’s learning management system. Your instructor will use Moodle to distribute course materials like                         syllabi, readings, etc. They may also ask you to participate using Moodle by way of submitting assignments,                             participating in discussions, taking quizzes, etc. Your instructor will guide you through this as well as set expectations                 for using Moodle in each course.

    o You can access Moodle from the link on Connect or at https://moodle.yhc.edu 


What software is available to YHC students?

    o    YHC students can download Office 365 software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and One Note) from their webmail             account for both Windows and Apple computers for free. Complete instructions are on the Information Technology                  page.

What program is used for email and file storage space?

    o    Microsoft Office 365 hosts all the college’s email and provides file storage via OneDrive.

    o    Mailboxes have a 50GB limit and the OneDrive has a 5TB limit.

    o    When setting up your YHC email on a mobile device please choose O365 or office365 as the server company and type.

    o    You can access your email in a web browser from the link on YHC Connect or at https://email.yhc.edu

Do I need to bring my own wireless access point?

    o    No – Campus wireless is available in all residence halls, campus buildings and most outdoor areas. Additionally Wireless Access Point can create interruptions and interference and are strongly advised against in any YHC campus location. 

Can I download music and movies?

    o    The use of peer-to-peer file sharing applications is strictly prohibited on the YHC network. Legal downloads are                         permitted.

Where can I print on campus?

    o    Free printing is available in the Miller Library 24 hours a day.

How Can I Replace a Lost or Damaged ID Card?

    o    You will need to visit the Business Office located at the bottom of the Pruitt-Barrett Building to pay a $30 replacement             fee. You may then have your ID printed upstairs in the Office of Information Technology.


How do I add funds to my YHC One Card account?

    o    Step 1: Register at https://yhc.campuscardcenter.com/ch/login.html using your student ID number and last name.

    o    Step 2: Once you log in, you will be able to view your transaction information, including your Flex Dollars, Dining                         Dollars, and weekly meals balance.

    o    Step 3: To add one-time additional Flex Dollar funds to your account, click “Add Value” and follow the instructions.


What is LaundryView and how do I use it?

    o    LaundryView is an Internet application that allows you to monitor the status of campus washers and dryers. Go to                     laundryview.com , Enter in Young Harris College, and click on your building to see washer and dryer availability. Login             at the top right corner of the page to register your email and phone to receive notification when the washing or                       drying cycle. is complete.
